Lucknow Girl: feminism at stake or feminism that’s fake?

The Lucknow girl incident is on fire. For those of you who are not familiar, well, according to the well everywhere, a lady was seen repeatedly slapping a cab driver for almost running over her. There are also videos of the girl crossing the super busy road in a dangerous manner.

Now, whether or not she was right isn’t what motivated me to write this bit. What pissed me was “the anti-feminist narrative” that followed it. Instagram and Twitter are full of “anti-feminism” “fake feminism” bs and there’s no one addressing the issue with context anymore, everyone hates the aggressor and dismisses the movement. Let’s talk about it

The lady was spotted as the aggressor.

What is feminism? Believe it or not, most of us still believe feminism is about hating men. It’s not being a nazi, an aggressive supporter, or wanting world domination. It is just seeking equality for all sexes and hence the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

Now, there is the radical and liberal bs but that’s deeper stuff we don’t need to get into.

We can not deny that for centuries, androcentric society has massively dismissed every sex. The representation of feminine and trans aligning was lacking throughout the development of society. They were either mocked or oppressed or whatever, the point being they were not respected.

Finally, we have a movement that addresses this issue, that talks about male-dominated civilizations and how it has hampered the growth and we don’t even think twice before dismissing the whole concept and popularising the anti-narrative.

I respect all opinions, but if you’re to base yours on one tiny incident like this, I believe, I’ve got a billion more to help you form another one.

Let’s think before we trend a hashtag, can we?

Let’s Retrospect

The bit of the video under primary focus is a lady as an aggressor, physically abusing a male driver. There was the destruction of property, image, and TIME??

Before we get into the relevance of whose right or wrong, we need to focus on aspects of conversation that rose.

1) the guys are becoming timid

2) women are becoming too op

Now they may sound antonym-ish? But they are quite unique. And understanding them would give us an insight into whether fake feminism is what’s the case? Or is it even an actual concept?

Let’s talk about the former. Are guys being timid? Is not inflicting physical damage BY CHOICE, being timid? I mean I don’t wanna, but I would quote the “pinnacle of sensibility” in our country, Gandhi said “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

I believe that settles the argument. It’s not being weak to have morals. Women or not, not choosing to inflict physical damage despite my capabilities doesn’t make me timid, in fact, it makes me better. So this argument is absurd.

Now, we need to understand that this kind of thing happens every day in India. NCRB in 2015 in fact stated that more than 4 lakh road rage cases happened that year in India, why is this one so special? It is about sexual orientation. It isn’t really often you see women beating down men. Now, if you were rational, you’d say it’s just another human acting out of rage. Rage makes you do..well things? But that’s being rational, not Indian. We can’t accept stuff that infringes that elite ego. Which made this an issue. It’s not road rage anymore. Its androcentric headspaces who rode their rages now. Get it? Lol

Either way, it’s not a big deal. Though, and with an emphasis, I believe there are things in which misinterpretation of feminism is affecting androgenic behavior to women, and not in a good way? Which I would be covering next time because it doesn’t quite help in understanding this particular scenario, for now, on to the latter.

Are women becoming too op?

Okay, let’s just get it straight. Aligning with the feminine is just another aspect of humanity. Power an individual can command is a relative term, we need to realize that we are living in a world where emperors of the Mongol empire ruled over about 24 million sq. kilometers. Slapping a guy on the street is something any one of us can do. It’s not a big deal. Now I don’t recommend it but it’s not something that needs our immediate attention. I mean, we lost about 22 million jobs in the pandemic. I think that’s worthy of our focus?

The argument that arose was fake feminism. That’s not what it is, it’s just a really paranoid human who doesn’t respect social norms. That’s nothing new, nothing unheard of, it’s nothing different from a man creating a ruckus, let’s treat it as it is and not what you fear it to be.

After centuries of daily domestic violence, sexual physical, and mental abuse, and undermined authority, various sexual orientations have finally grown out of the male-dominated society and established themselves and displayed the potential. Something that has been kept away from them for a long time. Feminism is one of the good things, we feminists are the good guys. We seek equal acceptance and individual representation. That’s normal and needed and not at all evil.

I think that would settle it for now.

Peace.
